Description

The Embedded Software Engineer will participate in a team of Engineers responsible for the development of embedded control system for advanced battery management system (BMS) in electrified powertrain applications.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop test and maintain low-level software (BSW) including device drivers, CAN/LIN/UART communication layer, Vector CANtech communication code interfacing, diagnostics, application and flash bootloader
  • Support overall software build management process and integration of the BMS application software with BSW
  • Perform design, analysis and integrated testing of BMS hardware and software, system diagnostic and failure management, implementation and testing for core BMS functions on dSPACE HIL and vehicle
  • Follow a software development process i.e. repository using CM synergy, design, coding, and test plan creation/execution

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Science Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 year of embedded software programming experience
  • Thorough knowledge of automotive embedded hardware and software design, integration and testing
  • Proficient with C/C++ and assembly language for low level software (BSW) development, working knowledge of embedded software development tools, such as compilers, debuggers and simulators
  • Working knowledge of NXP/Freescale based 32-bit microcontrollers, ability to read ECU Schematics for IO/Peripheral software configurations and design
  • Experience with current battery management ASICs
  • Proficient with serial communication protocol design such as CAN, LIN, SPI or UART
  • Develop diagnostics protocol and vehicle networking for use in automotive ECU's
  • Working knowledge with dSPACE HIL testing, Vector tools, rapid prototype controllers, unit-level test tools such as LDRA or RTRT
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Science Engineering
  • Working knowledge or experience in using Matlab /Simulink /Stateflow for control software development
  • Working knowledge of battery motoring hardware and software, high voltage system control and diagnostics, embedded BMS control implementation
  • Experience in automotive diagnostics using UDS, OBDII standards and diagnostics management
  • Software implementation for functional safety in complex automotive applications
