The Senior Engineer- Battery Electrical/Electronic Hardware leads product design and development activities related to Electrical/Electronic hardware interfaces for Electronic Control Modules and related components used in hybrid/electric vehicle applications. This position entails working closely with powertrain controls engineers and electrical and electronics suppliers to lead battery management system design and release activities.

The specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure that best practice design features and processes are implemented for manufacturing, assembly, reliability, etc.
  • Develop/refine corporate battery electrical/electronic requirements and specifications
  • Creation and maintenance of documentation outlining best practices supporting FCA internal continuous improvement initiatives and the development of product technology roadmaps, for battery management electronics & electro-mechanical sensors and power distribution components
  • Lead electronic hardware design review (i.e. Schematics, WCCA, DFMEA, ME/EE interface), and support hardware validation (wiring harness design and setup, Hardware-in-the-Loop testing and report, data recording and analysis), electronic circuit simulation and root cause analysis

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 5 years electrical/electronic hardware design experience
  • Experience with analog and digital circuit designs
  • Strong understanding of high voltage power electronic circuits
  • Strong knowledge and usage of high voltage lab devices
  • Strong understanding of Hardware-in-the-Loop testing
  • DVP&R and DFMEA creation and execution experience
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to debug electronic controllers for intricate hardware related issues
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to interface with key customers, cross-functional teams, and all levels of personnel/management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to manage multiple responsibilities
  • Skilled with OrCAD/PSPICE schematics design and simulation tools or other similar tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • 7 years of experience in high voltage/high power/electric vehicle environments
  • Battery management system experience
  • Electronics/electrical hardware models and simulation experience
  • Electronics/electrical specifications expertise
  • Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design and fabrication experience
  • Vehicle systems wiring harness experience
  • Program management experience
  • Prior supplier experience
